The average shell length is 80 – 100 mm; can reach 150 mm in four years. Reaches marketable size of 50 – 70 gms whole weight after 15 – 18 months.

Harvested throughout the year except during the spawning season between December to March.

Characteristics:
Flesh lighter coloured than the rock oyster with blackish edge around mantle. Equally suitable for eating natural or cooked.
