Other Names: Deep Sea Cod, Googley-eyed cod (New Zealand), Chigodara (Japan), Mora (Italy), Dae gu (Korea).
Family: Moridae (Morid Cods)
Description: The average size is 40-50cm and average weight is 2 - 5 kg. Greyish pink above with no pectoral blotch, white below, large loose scales. Large, often protruding eyes, two anal fins instead of one and no dark blotch at the pectoral fin.
Main Season: Taken by trawl and longline, all year round.
Resource: Small to moderate resource.
Characteristics: Flesh white, firmer than red cod.
