Found around New Zealand and southern Australia with a similar species in Japan. Deep bodied. Blue-green above, some yellow on sides, silver white below. Small scales, row of scutes along rear part of body. | | Main Season: | Landed all year round with main catches from December to March. | | Resource: | Semi-pelagic. Caught mostly by trawl, purse seine and set net. A moderate resource. | | Characteristics: | Flesh pinkish with dark lines that may be filleted out; cooks to a light cream colour. Medium to soft texture.
